Dhusamareb(Mogadishu24)-Somali National Army with the United Sates Africa Command on Friday conducted joint military operation at areas east of Galgudud region under Galmudug State in Somalia, inflicting casualties on Al-Shabaab military.

Government officials said that the airstrike targeted Al-Shabaab militants’ convoy and destroyed six armed vehicles during the operation, adding the joint forces also destroyed the group base near the area.

The Somali Government did not comment on the exact of militants killed or injured in the operation so far.

The operation came a day before the Somali President, Hassan Sh. Mohamud planned to move to Dhusamareb town in the same region and launch the second phase of the offensive operation against the group there.
