Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The Ministry of Environment and Climate Change of Somalia has entered into a transformative partnership with Hormuud Telecom to bolster environmental protection and combat climate change. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed Wednesday in Mogadishu by Minister of Environment and Climate Change, Amb. Khadija Makhzumi, and Hormuud Telecom Chairman, Mr. Ahmed Yusuf.

“This collaboration marks a significant step toward environmental sustainability and a healthier planet for future generations,” said Minister Makhzumi. The agreement outlines joint efforts in raising awareness about environmental issues, tree planting initiatives, and sharing knowledge to address climate challenges.

Hormuud Telecom has pledged its support for various initiatives aimed at combating deforestation and promoting environmental stewardship. The company will play a key role in educational campaigns and practical projects designed to foster a culture of environmental responsibility among Somalis.

“This MoU reflects our shared vision of a greener, more sustainable Somalia. Together, we can make a significant impact on climate change and ensure a healthier country for future generations,” stated Chairman Yusuf.

This strategic partnership underscores the critical role of cooperation between the government and the private sector in tackling environmental issues and advancing climate resilience in Somalia.
