Wanlaweyne(Mogadishu24)-Southwest State is preparing to take part of the second phase of the offensive war against Al-Shabaab, continuing efforts to mobilize forces in Wanlaweyn district in lower Shabelle this week.

Security Minister for the Southwest State in Somalia,Hassan Abdulkadir Mohamed, Governor of lower Shabelle, Mohamed Ibrahim Barre and other officials are in the region to mobilize forces and encourage them defend locals from Al-Shabaab.

Governor of lower Shabelle, Mohamed Barre told the media that they’re completely prepared to the fight against Al-Shabaab, saying two senior militants were killed near Awdhegle by Somalia’s International Partner a day ago during their stay in the region.

“We are mobilizing forces, in order, to get ready for the second phase of the offensive war against terrorists. we will ensure your rights, salaries, and manage any funds directed to you through a dedicated account. You are the ones to protect these finances,” he said.

Southwest State’s comment comes as International Partners, specially the U.S increased airstrikes on Al-Shabaab targets in the region in the past months. The Somali Government said that two senior members of the group were killed two earlier. It also came as the region is facing challengers related to floods which cut main roads there now.
