Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The United States has reaffirmed its support for Somalia in the fight against al-Shabaab, emphasizing its commitment through various security assistance efforts.

This includes providing crucial training and equipment to the Somali National Army’s elite Danab Brigade. The collaboration was highlighted during discussions between representatives from the United States and Somali Chief of Defense, Major General Ibrahim Sheikh Muhiyadin at the U.S Embassy in Mogadishu Tuesday.

The engagement underscores the ongoing partnership between the two nations aimed at degrading the threat posed by al-Shabaab and bolstering Somalia’s security capabilities.

The U.S. Embassy in Mogadishu donated three vehicles to by the Federal Government of Somalia’s Judicial Training Institute, the South West State Office of the Attorney General, and the Hirshabelle Office of the Attorney General on February 6, 2024.

The United States, through INL, has committed nearly $70 million over eight Iyears to support
Somalia’s justice, police, maritime security, and corrections sectors according to a statement from the Embassy obtained by Mogadishu24.
