Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali National Army backed by the local forces, Macawisley killed two Al-Shabaab militants and three others injured after conducting joint operation at an area close to Far-Libax district in Hiiraan region in central Somalia’s Hirshabelle State.

The local authorities said Tuesday that the joint operations targeted Al-Shabaab base in area overnight, saying they will pursue such onslaught against the group militants.

“The SNA and local forces gained military progress against Al-Shabaab and liberated several areas during the operation, they fled two dead bodies from the battleground and escaped with wounded ones”, Far-Libax Police Commander, Mohamed Salad said.

He added that the some members of the army sustained injuries, but he did not mention exact number of soldiers injured during the fighting between two sides.

Al-Shabaab militants did not comment on the latest progress in Hiiraan region, a bottom of the uprising of local forces, known as ‘Macawisley that led liberation of major parts of the region in 2022 and 2023.
