Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Al-Shabaab militants on Saturday announced that two Cuban doctors held captives were killed in an airstrike happened in Jilib district in Middle Jubba region in Southern Somalia on Thursday morning.

The Group claimed that the airstrike was carried out at an area housing the doctors by United States of America’ AFRICOM in a drone strike.

Neither the Somali Government, nor the U.S Africa Command commented the operation in which Al-Shabaab proclaimed and released photos of dead men though media affiliated to the group.

Al-Shabaab kidnapped the two Cuban doctors, Assel Hererra and Landy Rodriguez from Mandera northeastern Kenya in 2019.
