Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The British Embassy in Somalia announced a donation of £2.75 million to the United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS)-administered Trust Fund to bolster the Somali Security Forces (SSF) this week.

This funding is designated for non-lethal support, including rations, communication equipment, shelter, and medical evacuation services, to aid in the fight against Al-Shabaab.

“The UK remains steadfast in its commitment to enhancing the operational capabilities of the Somali Security Forces. This contribution underscores our dedication to supporting Somalia in its pursuit of stability and security,” stated a spokesperson from the embassy.

This contribution is part of a broader international strategy to reinforce Somalia’s efforts against extremism and to maintain peace within its territory according to the statement.
