The Somali National Army has on Wednesday conducted an offensive operation, killing 30 Al-Shabaab militants and injuring several others in El-Qurac area, along the border of Galgadud and Middle Shabelle regions.During the operation, the Army specifically targeted Al-Shabaab gathering bases, completely destroying their hideouts, and successfully seized weapons and equipment from the militants.Deputy Minister of Information, Abdirahman Yusuf Al-Adala, confirmed the operation, reiterating the government’s commitment to fighting against Al-Shabaab.“The Somali National Army Forces conducted an Offensive Operation against Al-Shabaab at El-Qurac. The forces killed 30 militants, destroyed their hideouts, and seized weapons,” stated Al-Adala, the Deputy Minister of Information.Al-Adala further emphasized the government’s dedication to strengthening the fight against Al-Shabaab, with the aim of eliminating their presence in the country.“The government is committed to strengthening the fight against Al-Shabaab militants until we recover the remaining locations. By utilizing our Army, special forces, and the local community, we will bring their existence to an end,” he added.The operation comes days before President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sh. Mohamud plans to move to Dhusamareb, the administrative capital of Galmudug State to scale up and start the second phase of the offensive war namely ‘Black Lion Operation’ against Al-Shabaab in the region.
