Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-500 Somali Soldiers graduated from Turkish Military Base in Somalia, TurkSom and will join other special forces, Gorgor Unit fighting the militant group of Al-Shabaab in the country, officials said.

President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud closed the training course for the this army at TurkSom Accademy in Mogadishu’s Wadajir district Thursday, saying that his Government will prioritize the reform of the national army which is significant foundation for reaching quick success of the offensive operation against Al-Shabaab.

“President @HassanSMohamud attended the swearing-in ceremony for a newly graduated Somali National Army (SNA) Gorgor Brigade who received military training at the TURKSOM Military Academy. The President inspected a Guard of Honor and a parade, commending the army’s determined role in the fight against terrorists”, Villa-Somalia said on X formerly Twitter.

He thanked Turkish Government’s role in rebuilding the Somali National Army.

Turkish Government trained the largest of the Somali soldiers, then the U.S trained other special forces, Danab.

Al-Shabaab militants carried out deadly attacks near Turk-Somali military bases during recruitment processes in the past three years, leaving large number of them dead and others injured.
