Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somalia’s Office of the Auditor General has unveiled that the country’s embassy in Muscat, Oman made corruption, fraud and misconduct after conducing investigations to this diplomatic mission from January 1, 2019, to December 31, 2023.

The Audit Office said in a statement on Saturday that it has submitted the case of the above mentioned embassy scale to the nation’s Office of the Attorney General, highlighting its efforts towards transparency and rooting out of the corruption from the country’s foreign missions.

The report disclosed corruption, abuse of power, Fabrication of documents, misappropriation of funds, Unauthorized auctioning of embassy properties,Involvement in illegal agreements that jeopardized state assets,Misuse and diversion of vehicles donated by the Sultanate of Oman to the Somali government.

The office said that the Somali Government officials are involved in this embassy’ corrupt activities, the transparency of State Institutions and check and balance methods of funds and management capacities lead to founding developed State Institutions with confidence.

The Office of Auditor General’s statement comes two weeks after the Somali Ministry of foreign Affairs recalled most of its foreign diplomats and staff and come to the capital Mogadishu as soon as possible.
