Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The Republic of Djibouti and the People’s Republic of China have strengthened their trade relations in an opening ceremony for showcasing ‘Made in Liaocheng’ Cross-border E-commerce Products at the Djibouti Conference and Exhibition Centre.

Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority emphasized the contribution of these industries to the economic growth of Djibouti.

“Over 20 Chinese industries from Liaocheng have participated in this conference, which marks a long-term strategy for attracting further Chinese investments in Djibouti. This center will serve as a commercial hub for these industries, ensuring that anyone seeking products from across Africa can get them within Djibouti,” stated Mr. Aboubaker, Chairman of Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority.

“The CIF Djibouti concept is set to transform the role of the Free Zones by expediting the order placing and receiving process for clients, taking advantage of the business-friendly environment, financial and monetary unrestricted flows. Making Free Zones even more pivotal to Djibouti’s economic growth,” the chairman added.

The event has gathered several Chinese-owned industries and representatives from the Djibouti government and its agencies.

This event comes a week after Djibouti and China have taken strategic measures to foster their diplomatic and bilateral ties through the ruling political parties’ cooperation.

Djibouti’s ports and strategic location in Africa have attracted huge worldwide interest. Countries like France, the US, Russia, and China have set up military bases there, competing for control and influence.

China is actively undertaking infrastructure projects in Djibouti, which are set to create thousands of jobs for locals and boost the country’s trade across Africa.
