Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The President of the Republic of Djibouti, Ismail Omar Guelleh, engaged in crucial bilateral discussions with the US Secretary of Defense, Lloyd Austin, on a phone call.

The centred on strengthening the security ties between the two nations, with an emphasis on Djibouti’s security situation and the strengthening of military relations. The discussions also touched on matters of regional peace and security.

During the call, the President of Djibouti affirmed to the US Secretary the unwavering commitment of the Djiboutian government to fostering relations between the two countries.

Moreover, the US Secretary of Defense commended the Djibouti government’s efforts in maintaining peace within the country and its active involvement in regional peace and security matters.

He further expressed gratitude on behalf of the American government and people to Djibouti for their support to American citizens who were evacuated from Sudan due to the civil war in the country.

The US Secretary also reiterated the commitments of the US government towards strengthening the bilateral relationship with Djibouti and its ongoing support for maintaining regional peace and stability.
