Al-Shabaab militants have on Sunday evening killed the former Hirshabelle State Minister of Agriculture, Hassan Ahmed Mudey, in Mogadishu’s Yaqshiid District.

A group armed with pistols attacked the deceased in the evening in the Godey-Makane neighbourhood of Yaqshid district and escaped from the scene after killing the former State Minister.

Al-Shabaab militants claimed to have killed the official in Mogadishu.

Despite the Somali Forces’ recent efforts to combat the frequent bombings carried out by Al-Shabaab in Mogadishu through tightened security measures, they were unable to prevent this targeted attack and other suicide-bombings in the city.

There have been frequent planned attacks against former and current leaders. In the past few days, Al-Shabaab militants have carried out a series of murders, including that of the deputy Finance Director of Awdheegle district in Hamar-jajab.
