Dhusamareb(Mogadishu24)-Galmudug State President, Ahmed Abdi Kariye on Sunday received outgoing UN Envoy to Somalia, Catriona Jaing at the State House in the capital Dhusamareb, together with a delegation and discussed key issues.

United Nations’ Assistance Mission in Somalia said on X that the Ms. Laing met with President, Kariye and members from the civil society during her visit in the region, saying issues discussed included support for the State and Peace-building and progress on a local UN office and recent achievementments in the FMS’ fight against female genital mutilation(FGM).

“Welcome to Galmdug State and we’re grateful to joint collaboration we had made together with UN Office, we discussed on issues regarding to security and fight against terrorists as progress made in recent. We also discussed on political issues and shaping electoral issues, We also visited the UN office in Dhusamareb which is under completion now”, Ahmed Kariye said after the meeting.

UN Envoy’s visit to Dhusamereb comes a week before her assignment comes to an end while President faces competitive presidential and parliament election later this year.
