Kismayo(Mogadishu24)-The Jubaland Security forces successfully thwarted an explosive attack planned by Al-Shabaab in Kismayo city in the Lower Jubba region on Monday.The Jubaland Intelligence and Security Agency forces conducted an operation within the city and safely detected an improvised explosive device buried in one of the busiest roads.The security forces stated that this explosive device was intended by Al-Shabaab militants to target civilians, but the swift action taken by the forces prevented the attack.The Jubbaland Intelligence and Security Agency expressed gratitude to the local residents for sharing crucial intelligence information with the security forces, contributing to the successful removal of the explosive device.“We express our gratitude to the local residents for their proactive role in regularly informing and collaborating with the security agencies,” the statement reads.The government forces affirmed its commitment to ongoing security operations in the region to ensure stability.Kismayo has frequently been targeted by Al-Shabaab, with the group employing tactics ranging from direct attacks to bombings and planned assassinations.The militants are also known for carrying out attacks in areas near Kismayo city, often targeting military bases and installations.This comes a day after the Somali National Army elite forces, Danab, killed 7 Al-Shabaab militants in an offensive operation conducted in villages under the Janay Abdale area in the Lower Jubba region.
