Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-A ceremonial event was held on Tuesday at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya to bid farewell to Ambassador Mohamud Ahmed Nur (Tarsan), who has completed his term as the Ambassador of the Federal Government of Somalia to Kenya.

The event was graced by the presence of Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’oei, Kenya’s Principal Secretary, State Department for Foreign Affairs, along with other distinguished guests and members of the Kenyan diplomatic corps.

Ambassador Nur has served as Somalia’s Ambassador to Kenya since 2018, and throughout his tenure, he played a pivotal role in enhancing the bilateral relationship between the two nations.

He was a staunch advocate for peace and stability in East Africa and the Horn of Africa, and he was recognized for his exceptional service and tangible contributions to the development of Kenya-Somalia relations.

Principal Secretary, State Department for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Sing’oei commended Ambassador Noor for his unwavering efforts to promote peace and stability in the Horn of Africa.

“Ambassador Nur has been an outstanding diplomat who played a crucial role in strengthening the relationship between Somalia and Kenya. He has been an instrumental figure for peace and stability in the region. It was a pleasure to work with him, and I consider him a great friend,” said Dr. Abraham Korir Sing’Oei, Kenya’s PS.

On his part, ambassador Nur expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Kenyan government for their warm welcome and unwavering support throughout his tenure. He reiterated his commitment to working on strengthening regional security and stability in his personal capacity.

Kenya and Somalia have maintained longstanding mutual relationships, with a strong focus on cooperation in key areas, particularly on defence and security. Over the years, these two nations have worked together to address shared challenges, enhance regional stability, and foster diplomatic ties.

Kenya is one of the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) troop-contributing countries and has been actively engaged in the fight against the Al-Shabaab terrorist organization, which is a threat not only to Somalia but also to Kenya.
