Minister : Military Court tries officers involved in the flagrant activities

Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Minister of Defense of the Federal Government of Somalia, Abdulkadir Mohamed Nur on Sunday declared that Court of Armed Forces will sit for the trail for corrupt senior army officers after finishing on-going probe into scandal of the U.S trained forces.

Speaking to local TV Station in Mogadishu, the Minister said that they learned the flagrant incident happened two weeks earlier, but they practically caught on those involved in selling the rations of the army in the markets a week ago.

“It is possible that such flagrance could happen inside the army everywhere in the world, but it is important to find out such abuses and be corrected and those who were behind it, should be brought before legal courts for justice”, he said.

The Minister stated that the corrupt officials, among them, senior army officers were arrested for the case as though he did not provide exact of persons, but he confined that they were in prison for five days period and they will appear before the court next week.

He also admitted that the theft action was very shameful thing in which a contingent of the Somali National Army was involved.

The Minister’s remarks came two days after the United States of America suspended the food rations support of the Somali National Army’s elite forces, Danab Unit, following the theft incident in which the army was selling the food in the market.
