Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, on Tuesday called the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to discuss strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.

The discussions focused on joint development cooperation, covering areas such as trade, education, and other crucial sectors, as well as coordination in these domains.

Both presidents reiterated their commitment to mutual interests, benefits, and goals, jointly addressing shared challenges.

“President @HassanSMohamud spoke with President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi of Egypt, congratulating him on his re-election. They reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, emphasizing the importance of uniting efforts to address shared challenges in the region,” stated the Somali presidency on X.

During the call, the presidents also discussed emerging regional developments.

Egyptian President El-Sisi affirmed his government’s commitment to supporting Somalia in its security, stability, and state-building efforts.

The president’s call came three weeks after Abdel Fattah El-Sisi secured his third term as the president of Egypt, with 89.6% of the vote.
