Djibouti(Mogadishu24)-The President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, is currently in Kuwait to attend the funeral of the late Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, who passed away at the age of 86 on Saturday.

President Mohamud extended condolences to the new Emir, Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah, on behalf of the Federal Government and the Somali people.

“President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is in Kuwait to convey condolences for the passing of Emir Sheikh Nawaf al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah and to share a message on behalf of the Federal Government and the Somali people,” read the statement from Villa Somalia.

He also conveyed condolences to the Arab and Islamic nations, mourning the loss of an outstanding leader both regionally and globally.

The Kuwaiti government officially announced Emir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmed’s death on Saturday after a brief illness and subsequently named the Crown Prince Sheikh Meshaal al-Ahmad al-Jaber al-Sabah as the new Emir.

The Kuwaiti government is among the Arab nations assisting Somalia with humanitarian and educational issues and is recognized for not interfering in Somalia’s political affairs.
