Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-The governments of Kenya and India have signed key agreements aimed at strengthening bilateral ties and gaining access to Kenyan markets.These agreements were signed on Tuesday during Kenyan President William Samoi Ruto’s visit to New Delhi, India.President Ruto met with President Droupadi Murmu and Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi for the signing of five memoranda of understanding aimed at enhancing their ties in the sectors of health, energy, ICT, and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises.He reiterated their commitment to enhancing cooperation to ensure access to resources for the Global South.“Kenya and India will expand their partnership in technology and other sectors. We will benefit tremendously from India’s capacity and experience as a global leader in technology,” President Ruto said.He added, “The two countries will also work together to effect change in the world financial system to ensure the Global South can access the resources it needs to develop and transform the lives of people at a fair and just cost.”The President acknowledged India’s assistance in Kenya and welcomed its decision to expand its avocado markets to Kenya.“I welcomed India’s decision to open its market to avocados from Kenya and the continued assistance in health, energy, ICT, and Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises,” President Ruto stated.Kenya’s regional and international influence has been growing as it actively participates in global and regional matters, such as security and peace.On Sunday, Kenya and Djibouti reiterated their commitment to enhancing their diplomatic ties through inter-parliamentary cooperation.Last month, the governments of Kenya and China signed multiple agreements covering various sectors, including communication, technology, medicine, electricity, and road construction.Kenya has also signed a five-year joint defense cooperation framework with the United States of America, enabling the two countries to enhance compatibility and work together for regional peace and stability.
