Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali National Army continued operations against Al-Shabaab militants and recovered new locations including Maracadde, Galka-Salimow and Garas-weyne in lower Shabelle region in the past 24 hours.

According to SNA radio, these forces are those trained in Eritrea, adding that they are expanding to new areas in the region.

The region hosted heavy fighting between Somali National Army and Al-Shabaab fighters in the past two weeks during the holy month of Ramadan with deadly airstrike of civilians casualties at Bagdad village near Afgoye District.

The group also managed to overran military bases at Busley and Deanne are about 60 kilometers south of the capital Mogadishu according to security sources.
