Somali National Army elite forces, Danab, has killed 7 Al-Shabaab militants on Sunday after conducting an offensive operation in the villages under the Janay Abdale area, in the Lower Jubba region.

Commander Arab Deeq Ahmed of Danab’s 5 th unit said that the operation was carefully planned to target a gathering of Al-Shabaab militants, who were preparing to launch an attack on the military bases
of the Somali National Army and Jubbaland State forces.

The commander added that their forces also managed to destroy Al-Shabaab hideouts, thwarted their plans, and confiscate weapons.

He further noted that Danab Forces and Jubbaland Forces are collaborating in joint operations against the militants, as part of the second phase of the ‘Black Lion Operation’ aimed at countering Al-

However, Al-Shabaab militants did not comment on the latest operation by Danab Forces in Janay Abdale.

The Somali National Army conducted operations in the Lower Shabelle and Bay regions, specifically in Baladul Amin, Baladul Karim, and Bulo Fulay, killing at least 41 Al-Shabaab fighters on Saturday.

These operations came at a time the Somali Federal Government has intensified efforts in the ‘Black Lion Operation’ against Al-Shabaab. Meanwhile, the President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is in Dhusamareb, the Administrative capital of Galmudug State, to scale up the operation and mobilize the local community to combat the threats of the militants.
