Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali National Army backed by local forces known as ‘Macawisley’ on Saturday morning foiled Al-Shabaab attack on SNA base at Shabellow area south of Mudug region under Galmudug State in Somalia.

SNA-Radio Mogadishu said that the army killed 21 Al-Shabaab fighters and burnt down four vehicles during the confrontation in the area early in the morning.

Al-Shabaab militants carried out suicide car bomb attacks at the SNA base in area, then heavy fighting between the SNA forces and their fighters happened, lasting about two hours according to residents and army officials who declined to be named.

This is the second deadliest attack in the region in week’s time, and there are independent sources identifying the exact number of casualties of the warring sides. The group fighters claimed to have killed about 200 SNA’s Gor-gor Unit soldiers in Caad town a week ago.

But this comes three days after the Somalia Government announced, shutting down the group’s social media platforms including websites to reduce their influence through using the propoganda.
