Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Somali Football Federation on Monday set tough conditions on resuming the regional tournament which was going on in the capital Mogadishu in the past two weeks, but was suspended following an attack on Southwest State players on a bus that left at least six footballers injured.

The Federation said in a statement dated today, January 15, 2024 that they can not continue the games until collective responsibility for the security and management of the football stadiums set in place, expressing the importance of these to sports.

The Federation also suggested that footballs from the regions should get rights from the ‘Gate collection tickets’ as promised by the Ministry of youth and Sports earlier, saying that the sports should not be politicised, but be social integration through peaceful means.

The Somali Football Federation canceled tomorrow’s game due to this reason.

This comes two days after southwest State players boycotted and returned back to Baidoa, the administrative capital of Southwest State in Somalia.

The Federation and Benadir regional Administration, the host was already facing challenge as they could not succeed to bring Puntland State teams into the tournament and now they seem to have failed to secure the safety of footballers and manage funds collected the stadiums well.
