Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-President of the Federal Government of Somalia, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on Wednesday marked Somali National Youth Day by laying a wreath at the Tomb of the Freedom Fighters. This annual event honors the founding fathers of the Somali Youth League (SYL).

Addressing a gathering of young people, President Mohamud highlighted the pivotal role of Somali youth in the country’s independence struggle. He urged the youth to leverage their creativity and drive to foster societal transformation and build a prosperous future.

The President reaffirmed the government’s commitment to implementing direct universal suffrage, ensuring that the voices of the youth are heard in the democratic process. He emphasized that young people will play a crucial role in political decision-making, shaping the future of Somalia.
