Mogdishu(Mogadishu24)-Ex-Somali President, Sheikh Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, has embarked on a peace mission campaign in the Middle Shabelle region, aiming to address the renewed clan clashes in Raaga-Ceelle and Adale districts.President Sharif expressed grave concerns and called for an immediate ceasefire and the withdrawal of armed clan militias from the towns.“First and foremost, we are calling for a ceasefire and the withdrawal of troops. Whenever such incidents happen between brothers, there have been ways to solve it. We would like to request the warring brothers to immediately stop fighting and return to peaceful dialogue,” he emphasized.The former president’s efforts towards peace in the affected region have garnered support from the Federal Government. Mohamed Abdi Ware, the Special Presidential Envoy for Civilian Protection and Stabilization, commended the peace mission and assured the delegation of the government’s support.“The peace caravan led by Former President HE Sharif Sheikh Ahmed, Imaam Daahir, and Ugaas Mohamoud among Rage Ceele, Haji Ali, and Adale communities in Middle Shabelle will, inshallah, lead to lasting peace. We support it with goodwill and well wishes,” said Mohamed Abdi Ware.The ongoing clashes have had a devastating impact on the people in the region, resulting in the death of at least 40 people within the past two weeks, and the conflict has extended to the front areas with fighting militias on both sides.
