Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-UK and the European Union said Monday that they were working together to train Somali National Army and support the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia.

“UK & EU are working together to train @SNAForce to help them take the fight to al-Shabaab & support the @ATMIS transition.  UK Minister @JSHeappey met Comdr Tangham and Comdr @EutmPio as well as British troops in Mogadishu to hear about vital security sector partnership”, UK Embassy in Mogadishu on X

“Partner co-operation by the Quad European Union,United States, United Nations and UK is vital to ensuring a secure sustainable future for Somalia. Pleasure to host colleagues to discuss improved security co-ordination with visiting UK Minister for the Armed Forces @JSHeappey.”, UK Ambassador to Somalia, Mike Nithavrianakis said.

These comments came as the UK Minister for Armed Forces, James Heappey MP, in a visit to the capital Mogadishu this week, in order, to reaffirm the UK’s commitment to defence and security cooperation with Somalia.
